Chinmaya Vidyalaya is a Boarding School situated in the lap of Shivalik Hills in the state of Himachal Pradesh in Solan, a city located about 320 kms from Delhi and well connected by rail and road. 14 kms from Solan on Rajgarh Road is a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains on all sides wherein lies Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni which is the first global university of its kind which is exclusively providing Teaching, Research and Extension activities in the field of Horticulture, Forestry and allied disciplines.

Amidst the pristine and sylvan surroundings of the University and in the heart of the valley lies Chinmaya Vidyalaya which began as a Primary School in 1984 to fulfill the educational needs of the children of the faculty and other staff of the university. The English medium, Co-educational, CBSE affiliated boarding school was upgraded to the Senior Secondary level after takeover by the Chinmaya Mission in 1992.

The Chinmaya Mission was started in 1951 by Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda who was a great ascetic of modern India who worked ceaselessly for over four decades spreading the vedantic message of peace and happiness to the classes and masses around the globe. The most important contribution of the mission to the society being the 77 Chinmaya Vidyalayas, an international school, a Harihar School and 8 Chinmaya Colleges which offer education with a difference.
